Executive Coaching

RJCG Consultants are experienced Executive Coaches who strive to help leaders address challenges and maximize strengths to grow professionally and achieve their goals. We provide business coaching, leadership coaching, and organizational coaching and consultation. We have the expertise to work effectively with individual leaders as well as organizational sponsors and stakeholders to successfully reach desired outcomes. RJCG coaching is based on our unique Differentiated Leadership Model, which was developed by RJCG Founder, Dr. Rick Johnson. We provide business coaching in Portland as well as around the country.

differentiated leadership

As a University Professor for 26 years, Rick conducted research on differentiation and the variables associated with personal and professional competence and effective leadership. Research has indicated that differentiated leaders exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Personal Power: humble confidence

  • Personal Integrity: values-based discernment and clarity

  • Low Levels of Emotional Reactivity: balance of thinking & feeling

  • Healthy Interpersonal Boundaries: being attuned with others without losing connection to their Wise Self.

RJCG Consultants help leaders to increase their embodiment of these characteristics, internally and relationally, leading to much better outcomes in their personal and professional lives. In particular, well-differentiated leaders are much less likely to engage in problematic, reactive behavior in response to interpersonal stress and conflict. Instead, they are much more likely to trust their abilities, discern the best course of action, be emotionally steady, and have healthy boundaries.

leadership and 360 assessments

RJCG uses four scales to assess leadership strengths and challenges. We use these scales in individual executive coaching, for 360 reviews, and as a part of our Leadership Essentials© and Managerial Essentials© Workshops. The four scales are:

  • PRINT®, which was developed by Paul Hertz, produces a 12-page report that helps leaders:

    • Identify the Unconscious Motivators® that drive their behaviors

    • Identify their Best Self characteristics and behaviors

    • Notice and manage their Triggers and Shadow (reactive, defensive) behaviors

  • Differentiated Leadership Scale©, which was developed by Rick Johnson, helps leaders:

    • Increase their personal power

    • Increase their personal integrity

    • Decrease their emotional reactivity

    • Improve their interpersonal boundaries

  • Interpersonal Coping Style Scale for Leaders©, which was developed by Rick Johnson, helps leaders decrease the unproductive reactions to stress and conflict, including fight, flight, freeze, and appease

  • Essential Managerial Skills Scale©, which was developed by Rick Johnson, helps leaders improve their managerial skills, including motivating and inspiring their direct reports and teams, delegating effectively, and leading effective meetings.

Completion of the three leadership scales (Differentiated Leadership, Interpersonal Coping Style, and Essential Managerial Skills) produces an 8-page report that highlights strengths and challenges as a leader and manager and provides recommendations.
